About

Grow Your Business is a business planning program that helps small businesses to develop and implement strategies to become internationally competitive by offering a range of planning and management services. Businesses can engage the services of an independent specialist to prepare a business plan.

 

Objectives

The Grow Your Business program assists established businesses to grow by:

  • increasing productivity and lifting competitiveness
  • exploring new export opportunities
  • increasing investment in research and innovation
  • attracting investment and venture capital
  • pursuing environmentally sustainable practices
  • considering new marketing and promotion opportunities

 

Eligibility Criteria

Businesses participating in subsidised Grow Your Business program must satisfy the following criteria:

  • be financially viable (In order to assess financial viability businesses are required to provide a financial report for the last two financial years)
  • be a tradeable service (A business that falls under the definition of tradeable services include manufacturers (as indicated by the ANZSIC classification system) and service firms, showing they face import competition, are exporting or have the potential to export or internationalise their business operations in other ways)
  • be based in Victoria
  • have a commitment to export or import replacement
  • show management strengths
  • at least twelve months trading history

Business Strategic Review

The Business Strategic Review is a chance to gain a valuable insight into areas of operation and is designed to:

  • identify the immediate past and present position of a business
  • illustrate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
  • identify and prioritise areas that require attention or change
  • This ‘situational analysis’ can also be directed toward specific issues such as:
  • production/process
  • finance
  • export and marketing
  • eBusiness
  • human resources
  • training strategies
  • environment
  • Outcomes can form the basis of a comprehensive action plan.

 

Business Development Plan

The Business Development Plan will assist organisations to pinpoint where they want to go and how they are going to get there. This allows the business to:

  • identify and develop processes that will assist in meeting their overall objectives
  • identify further opportunities and put together a comprehensive plan for the future

The Business Development Plan can be used by businesses wanting to develop their overall business strategy, or specific areas such as, but not limited to:

  • production/process
  • finance
  • environmental strategies
  • export and marketing
  • eBusiness development
  • supply chain
  • human resources and training strategies
  • business mentoring
