Eligible Activities

Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Services

The Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Services (DBMAS) initiative provides clinical interventions to help aged care staff, health professionals and carers improve their care of people with dementia, where the behaviour of the person with dementia impacts on their care.

Applications are sought from eligible organisations to undertake activities delivered through the DBMAS initiative from July 2013, including expanded services as part of the aged care reform measure.  It is expected that funding of approximately $7.6 million will be available for this expanded activity.

Promoting better practice and partnerships – Research translation

There is a significant amount of research and resources available on evidence based practice in aged care, however this needs to be made more accessible, and relevant to particular target groups in order to be successfully integrated and sustained into everyday care and service delivery.  It is expected that funding of approximately $8.1 million will be made available for this activity.

Applications are being sought that promote better practice in The Quality Use of Medicines, and support the ability of organisations and health care professionals to safely and effectively use medicines in the care and support of consumers of aged care services.  Funding will be provided for activities that identify, further develop, collate, and disseminate existing resources so they are practical, user-friendly, support staff education and training and business improvement systems.

Older Australians from diverse backgrounds

Applications are being sought from eligible organisations to undertake activities that focus on ensuring older people from diverse backgrounds can access aged care services that are specific to their needs, and/or focus on ensuring that sexual diversity does not act as a barrier to receiving high quality aged care. It is expected that funding of approximately $5.1 million will be made available for these activities.
