What is the Business Saver Grant?

The Business Saver Grant Program is part of the Northern Territory Government’s Jobs First Plan and is designed to help small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to adapt to the new economic environment, increase profitability and reach new markets.

 

Background

Following the impact of COVID-19, many local businesses have struggled to get back to a financially stable position with many businesses reporting that their cash-flows were significantly impacted.

With the Business Hardship Register due to finish on 30 June 2021 which provides relief to power, water and other ongoing costs the, Northern Territory Government acknowledges the need to allow business time to think about where they can reduce ongoing costs to keep their businesses going.

The Business Saver Grant is available to help COVID-19 impacted business reduce their ongoing business costs, increase profitability and reach new markets through improved procedures, systems and use of new technologies.

 

Funding

Businesses will be able to apply for funding of up to $10,000 on a 50:50 co-contribution basis, to be assessed on a competitive basis.

 

Eligible Projects

Funding uses include, but are not limited to:

  • improvements to infrastructure, equipment and/or operations
  • purchase of new equipment
  • advisory services
  • use of new technologies

 

Eligible Applicants

To be eligible, you must:

  • be an actively trading Territory small business
  • be a legal entity (a natural person or an incorporated entity), with or without a registered business name
  • have an annual turnover of more than $75,000 and less than $10 million
  • hold a valid Australian business number (ABN) as of 10 November 2020
  • be able to match the grant amount applied for on a 50:50 co-contribution basis
  • be able to demonstrate how the grant funding would help to reduce overall ongoing costs

 

Timing

Applications close 28 March 2021.
