Future Female Entrepreneurs Program

What is the Future Female Entrepreneurs Program?

The Future Female Entrepreneurs Program (FFEP) is an innovative entrepreneurship program, available free to all young women in Australia aged 10 – 24 funded under the Australian Government’s Women’s Leadership and Development Program.

Background

In 2019 COSBOA and its delivery partner, 89 Degrees East, secured funding from the Office for Women for the Future Female Entrepreneurs Program. The program was officially launched on 4 December 2019 by the Federal Treasurer and ran throughout 2020. It was recently extended until 2023 with funding from the Federal Government’s Women’s Leadership and Development Grant. The program also expanded in 2021 to include an Accelerator for Enterprising Women aimed at 18-24-year-olds.

The program is aimed at equipping young women aged 10 to 24 with skills in entrepreneurship, design thinking, and technology. It’s a program created for girls by girls.

The Future Female Entrepreneurs Program seeks to build an industry alliance of Australia’s digital leaders, education professionals, entrepreneurial organisations, large and small businesses to ensure Australia’s next generation of businesswomen have the skills to run their own businesses or transform the industries in which they work.

FFEP Key Priority Outcomes

The FFEP seeks to inspire, educate and empower the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs and job makers by cultivating young women’s skills in design thinking, technology and business through two key priority outcomes:

The Academy for Enterprising Girls

The Program includes a digital e-learning platform, a program of workshops held across regional and metro areas around Australia, a hub of digital resources (including a YouTube channel), and education resources for teachers.

The online academy offers e-learning modules as well as videos from successful businesswomen and enterprising girls. It provides an engaging and entertaining education on entrepreneurship, design thinking, and how to establish your own company. Participants will acquire confidence and capacity to bring their own ideas to life, as well as learn new skills and see a variety of success stories.

Enrollment is FREE.

The Accelerator for Enterprising Women

The program includes a national kickstarter challenge and series of national summit events, the first of which was held in March 2021 at the University of Technology Sydney. It will also include incubator workshops, a digital launchpad platform and an inspiring content series.

Over 4,000 girls in primary and secondary schools across Australia attended 126 Enterprising Girls workshops in 2020. Workshops will be held again in 2021. They are free to participating schools and can be delivered in person or online. Individual schools negotiate workshop dates, and schools interested in holding a workshop can register their interest on the Academy’s website.

In 2021, the Accelerator for Enterprising Women will hold a series of free national summit events where 18-24-year-olds can hear from inspiring guest speakers and have breakout sessions to brainstorm their ideas. It will also offer a series of incubator workshops for young women to help them develop their company ideas and prepare them for submission to the National Kickstarter Challenge.
